Arlington, VA — Bean, Kinney & Korman announced today that Juanita Ferguson has been appointed chair of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Metro Washington’s legislative committee. This committee educates members and politicians on national, state and local legislative matters affecting the industry in Washington, D.C. Juanita will serve as chair for one year.
“The legislative committee plays a vital role in giving the members of ABC of Metropolitan Washington a voice on many of the issues affecting their work,” said Juanita. “I am excited to begin my year as chair of the committee.”
ABC of Metropolitan Washington has more than 500 member companies. ABC members include builders of schools, hospitals, government buildings, recreational facilities, commercial centers, industrial plants, bridges, roads, museums, churches and more. The association is dedicated to free enterprise, open competition and the merit shop philosophy. It is one of the premiere trade associations within the Washington, D.C. area’s construction industry.
Juanita focuses her law practice on construction litigation. She has litigated construction defects, mechanic’s liens, premises liabilities, negligence, employment and insurance defense matters while representing businesses and individuals. In 2011, Juanita was a presenter during the Construction and Public Contracts Law Section CLE offered at the 121st Annual Meeting of The Virginia Bar Association. This CLE addressed the legal aspects of bankruptcy issues in construction law. Juanita was also a presenter on the topic of Construction Law at the 2011 District Court Judges Conference for Virginia.
